The Art of Wine Making

Some call it the ‘Elixir of life’. Other call it is the ‘Milk of Venus’. Wine is the magical drink that derives its origin from the word ‘vinum’, In Latin (related to Greek οἶνος) that relates to both the words ‘wine’ and ‘vine’. Wine making is called vinification. The finest wines are those that have maintained a quality standard all throughout from selection to bottling.

Wine as a drink could be traced back to as early as 800 to 5000 B.C. For the people in the past this drink symbolized civilization, power, and culture. Now drinking wine is a social activity and a celebration of special occasions or just for relaxation. Home-brewed finest wines are offered to guests as the trademark of English hospitality.

Wine is generally used with a qualifier for better understanding of the exact composition like elderberry wine. Earliest civilization evidences show that there was almost an inventory of more than hundreds of varieties to choose from. Wine making is an art that requires the creativity of the finest artisans, temperament of the diligent scientist and sense of specificity of the perfect chemist. The stages for preparing wine are harvesting, de-stemming, crushing, fermentation, pressing, secondary fermentation, bulk aging, blending and bottling. Moderation is extremely necessary to be taken care of when wine is brewed at home. It is very important that the alcohol percentage is low and within the toleration limit.

A Home brew specialist shop will just ensure you that you are never out of the supplies and ingredient to produce the finest quality of wines at home. You can use fresh fruits from orchards or grape concentrates available in the market to prepare wine.

Rose Wines, Red Wines (from black and red grapes), Light or Full Bodied Wines and Dry or Sweet wines, Sparkling Wine (usually known as Champaign) can be easily made from the available fruit concentrates especially grape in the market.
